Michael Spivak

Michael Spivak was born in Russia, and received large portion of medical education and training at the Azerbaijan Medical Institute prior to immigrating to the USA.  He received his original nursing education from the Christ Hospital School of Nursing, bachelor of science in Nursing from the University of Cincinnati, and his master of science in Nursing as a family nurse practitioner from the University of Cincinnati.  He also received bachelor of science in Chemistry from the University of Cincinnati.  Michael Spivak is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.  He is Certified Diabetes Educator, Board Certified in Advanced Diabetes Management, and Certified Diabetes Technology Clinician.  He previously worked in the Open Heart Recovery Unit and other ICU environments, as well as skilled nursing home care environment.  Most recently he worked as APRN at the Mercy Endocrinology, Diabetes and Cholesterol Clinic and now works at the Functional Cholesterol Diabetes and Endocrinology.  His clinical interests are cholesterol, diabetes, PCOS, thyroid dysfunction, transgender care, menopause, andropause, and general endocrinology.

The nurse practitioners are registered nurses with advanced academic preparation and extensive clinical experience.  The nurse practitioner works both independently and in collaboration with the physician, helping to manage acute and chronic conditions while ultimately focusing on the patient, and treating patient as whole. Prevention, wellness, and patient education are the priorities. The nurse practitioners treat physical and psychological conditions through comprehensive history taking, physical exams, and ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests. They are licensed to diagnose and provide treatment for a variety of conditions, including prescribing medications.

Scott Melvin

After attending Cornell University and University of Cincinnati, Scott worked in several restaurants eventually becoming Chef at the Heritage Restaurant. He graduated from SHI Medical Massage School, is a licensed LMT and is certified in CranioSacral Therapy and MET (Muscle Energy Technique).  He is a Functional Medicine Health Coach.

His insistence on sourcing clean natural foods expanded the restaurant’s network of local sustainable growers.  He served as President of the Cincinnati Chefs Growers Collaborative, facilitating connections between local food purveyors and area chefs. After the Heritage, Scott worked for Wild Oats and Whole Foods Markets.

During this time he trained in Tai Chi and Qigong with Sifu Tim Coletta. Scott studied with renowned Chinese healer Robert Peng and and was one of the first Americans to be certified in Qigong Healing by Robert.
